You didn't list "the gays" as an option.

I did, actually, but I took it off again, because, while I like a good joke as much as anyone... that's not actually a virally-sponsored ailment, and while it may be medically "correctable" (like chemical sterilization) I would only have been too horrified if someone actually voted for it.

The only difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is none.

I picked cancer, because the cervical cancer vaccine is already out. ;)
Same here
Besides HPV, there are several other viruses that cause cancer (like hepatitis B and C). Others are caused by genetic mutations, and they've got that pretty narrowed down. So with genetic therapy being so popular these days, I wouldn't be surprised found a way to prevent it. (Gene therapy isn't exactly "immunization," though. heh) But yeah... I think they're gonna have a good number of the cancer's licked in the next 10-20 years.
AIDS: They've been working on this one for 20+ years and they're still not any closer to a vaccine.
MS: They don't even know how to predict MS, as the causal factors are all over the map. Currently, most of the treatments are for the symptoms- inflammation and immune system regulators- to make it "not so bad" when they have an attack.
Alzheimer's: Not even close. Much like MS, they just don't know enough about the brain to determine much about the disease, no less cure it... or immunize against it.
Fibromyalgia: They're not even sure what this is. There's no diagnostic criteria for determining the disease, just a general classification of symptoms.
