Man listed as Tokyo's Oldest Has Been Dead for Decades

Everybody thought he was the oldest living man in Tokyo at 111. Turns out, he died some 30 years ago after holing up in his room to become the Living Buddha, and his family had been covering for him ever since. And they would have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for Respect for the Elderly Day.

For a country that used to be famous for ancestor worship, they sure aren't good at keeping track of their own aged parents!
